The faith toggle

Faith is the foundation, not the door. The toggle is one tap, reversible, never weaponized.

Faith is the foundation. Not the door.

In Eden was built by Christians, on Christian conviction, in service of women who want a community that takes the spiritual seriously. That's the foundation — and it isn't moving.

But the door is different from the foundation. We don't gate signup by belief. We don't ask you to declare anything during onboarding except whether you want the faith side of the app turned on for you personally. The toggle is one tap. It's reversible. And it's never weaponized against you.

What "faith unlocked" actually does

When you flip the faith toggle to Yes during onboarding (or later in Settings → Profile), three things happen:

  • Your Home feed surfaces the daily devotional pinned at the top.
  • The Bible reader appears in your Library, with the Berean Standard Bible bundled in and a one-tap "Open in YouVersion" link for any verse so you can read in NIV, ESV, NLT, or whatever translation you prefer.
  • Faith-aligned content (devotionals, ebooks, prayer-focused classes, sermon recordings from Founders) becomes part of your Library and Friend Match weighting.

Nothing else changes. Your profile doesn't get a label. Your match suggestions still include women who haven't unlocked faith — though the weighting will tilt slightly toward those who have, the same way shared interests tilt the weighting.

What "faith not now" looks like

If you choose Not now, you simply don't see the faith content. The Home feed is built from your interests + city + Friend Match suggestions, and devotionals stay off it. You can still join any group, RSVP to any event, and connect with any member. You're not in a different version of the app — you're in the same one with one fewer surface lit up.

You can change your mind any time

Faith is reversible. Always. Settings → Profile → Faith content → toggle on or off. We never lock that decision. We never email you about flipping it. We never show "you turned faith off two weeks ago" on your profile or anywhere else.

If you turn faith on and decide it's not what you wanted, off in one tap. If you turn faith off and later want to see what the devotionals are like, on in one tap.

What about prayer requests?

Prayer requests are a post type inside group message boards — Founders can enable them as a category in their group. They look like regular posts with a special "Prayer request" tag, and reactions include the praying-hands tapback. They're not a separate destination at v1.

A prayer request posted to a group is visible to that group's members. You can set the default visibility of your own prayer requests under Settings → Faith → Prayer visibility (group only / specific groups / private journal).

"Why does the footer say 'Powered by Jesus'?"

Because it's accurate, and we'd rather be plain than vague. The platform was conceived through prayer, the work happens in step with prayer, and that's a fact about the founders we'd be dishonest to hide. It's not a recruitment line — it's a posture line. If you're here and you don't share that belief, you're welcome, and nothing about the product is built to nudge you somewhere you didn't ask to go.

Mentorship

Faith-rooted mentorship — being paired with a woman further along in her walk — is on the roadmap as a real feature in v1.1. At launch, you'll see a "Coming soon" card on the Paid tier where mentorship will live. We didn't want to ship a half-built version of something this important.
