Active vs waitlist cities

Why your city may be on the waitlist, what 'active' actually requires, and the fastest path to opening yours.

Cities open when there's actually something to open

In Eden is a city-anchored platform — the whole point is that the people, events, and groups you see are in the place you live. So a city doesn't go "live" until there are real people, real groups, and real events inside it. Until then, it's on the waitlist.

This is on purpose. The alternative is empty cities full of one stranger and zero events, which is worse than no city at all.

The three states

Every city is one of three things:

  • Active. Founders are leading groups. Partners and vendors have been onboarded. Events are happening. Members in active cities see the full city-group experience: feed, groups, events, Friend Match, the city pin on the map.
  • Waitlist. The city exists in our database but the threshold for "live" hasn't been crossed yet. Members in waitlist cities can still sign up, browse the global Library, and create demand — but they won't see local groups or events because there aren't any.
  • Rejected. Rare. Cities we've chosen not to launch yet, usually because of legal review (a country we haven't cleared for data residency) or because demand hasn't materialized.

What "active" actually requires

A city goes active when, at minimum:

  • One Founder has been approved to lead a group there.
  • Three Partners or Vendors have been onboarded.
  • Two events have been seeded.

Most of our launch cohort cities are active on day one because Amaya seeded them by hand before launch. New cities cross into active as the local community builds itself up.

I picked a city and it's on the waitlist — what do I do?

Three things, in order of impact:

  1. Sit tight in the waitlist. Your slot is saved. We notify you the day your city goes active.
  2. Invite friends in your city. Every signup with your referral code from your city is one more signal to us that your city is ready. Five referrals during launch window also unlocks Founding Member.
  3. Tell us who should lead it. If you know someone in your city who hosts events, runs a women's circle, leads a Pilates studio, runs a coffee shop — email support@ineden.app with her name and we'll reach out about the Founder path.

Can I be in more than one city?

You're anchored to one home city — that's the city that drives your Home feed, Friend Match pool, and event recommendations. You can travel to other active cities by setting a travel pin, which makes you discoverable to women in that destination city for the days you're there.

Switching your home city is a 90-day decision. You can change it once every 90 days from Settings → Profile. The cool-down exists to prevent the social weirdness of someone hopping between cities to circumvent local Friend Match decisions.

Groups inside a city

Once a city is active, members join specific groups inside it — not the city itself. A city has multiple groups: one or more community groups led by Founders, sometimes a business group (a coffee shop, a wellness studio), sometimes a Partner group (an In Eden-affiliated brand). You can be in multiple groups at once.

The city is the geographic anchor. The groups are the rooms inside it.
